Change is Good

In today’s world we are facing change everywhere. The only constant we have in our lives is change.  That means we must continue to learn to keep up with all the change that is occurring in our lives. I see family and friends struggling everyday with the change we face in America today.

Most of us are facing change in ways that have dramatic impact on our families and friends. Some people are afraid of change while others embrace it. We should never underestimate the power we have to make any change positive in our lives. Changes are going to happen and remaining who we are today will not allow us to become who we want to be in the future.

We all need to know that any change can be inherently good. Henry David Thoreau said; “things do not change; we change”.  It forces us to grow as a person. It can lead to developing flexibility, understanding, and becoming a more logical person. During the past six months we all have had the ability to listen more, understand better and become better informed on matters that pertain to our everyday life. Those who refuse to accept change do so in fear of what is to come. We must not live in fear and instead strive to learn from the past and the present and keep an eye on securing a positive future.

Improving ourselves is the first step to positive change and moving toward perfection simply means we have changed often. All great changes in America began as a discussion at the dining room table, at the office coffee machine or during a community conversation.  New challenges allow us to respond in unique and diverse ways. Every new change brings with it new opportunities for growth and experiences.

With change will come progress! Open your arms to change but maintain your values. Change is going to occur whether we want it or not. It is inevitable. Those who survive in business and in life are not the strongest or the most intelligent, but those who can best manage change. So be a part of the process and understand that to change the world requires us to think. And positive change will require us to change our thinking.

Change will not happen if we wait for someone else or some other time to make it happen. We must be the change that we seek. None of us alone can make change happen but if enough of us throw stones across the water, the others cannot ignore the ripples. Change usually is not comfortable when it happens and it is never free of conflict. But if we don’t change we don’t grow and if we don’t grow we really are not living.
